Strong Communities Initiative
Building the next middle class
People on their way to becoming the next middle class can be found in MACC member community centers, classrooms, computer labs, daycare centers, and gyms. MACC members across the metropolitan area are providing education, advocacy, jobs, housing and transportation to this emerging population ready to move up.
MACC’s mission is to assist individuals and families in achieving greater self-sufficiency by strengthening the capacity of community-based service organizations. It also looks for opportunities to bring the private sector on board in building strong communities and the next middle class.
An example is a creative partnership with Edina Realty to develop the Home Ownership Program which will bring opportunities for home ownership and employment to emerging communities that MACC members serve. MACC will use its reach across its 300,000 constituents to expose them to home ownership, provide ways to take action, get answers to questions, and make connections with real estate professionals.
For Edina Realty, this program provides access to emerging markets and ways to establish a trusted brand in fast-rising market segments. Agents and company officers also have the satisfaction of contributing to the strengthening of our communities.
