The Link offers school and behavioral support and intervention to youth at-risk of school drop out and continued involvement with the juvenile justice system.  The Link also offers permanent supportive housing to homeless and disabled young people. The Link supports this work by increasing the capacity of parents, schools, and social services to nurture the youth we serve.

Our Programs

Project Potential provides intensive case management, role modeling, and Health Realization training to youth at high risk for truancy and drop out.

Lindquist Apartments consists of 24 units of permanent, sober, supportive housing for homeless and disabled youth ages 16 and up. Staffed 24/7, The Link provides on-site services to help 24 residents transition to independence.

Supportive Group Activities include the Work Link  (a work readiness program), Tutor Link, Independent Living Skills Classes, Youth for Justice (a summertime service learning group), and Women Education Women (an empowerment group for young women).

Juvenile Supervision Center provides safe supervision, intervention services, and community resource connections to youth picked up for truancy, curfew or low level offenses that do not meet the admission criteria for the Juvenile Detention Center in Hennepin County.

History

The Link was founded in 1991 by two former Minnesota Vikings players in collaboration with Leonard Lindquist who shared a vision of bringing opportunity and positive relationships to disempowered youth living in impoverished neighborhoods.  This grassroots initiative has since blossomed into an experienced youth service organization serving the community through advocacy, housing, education, and intervention services. Over the last 17 years, The Link has touched the lives of nearly 15,000 youth and their family members through our asset-based service philosophy. Today, The Link continues to build positive relationships with youth that create sustainable positive relationships.

Mission

Our mission is to build a supportive community network that links youth and their families to their inner strength through life skills, education, advocacy, supportive housing, and a dynamic network of social services to transform their lives.
