Hallie Q. Brown Community Center is a community-based nonprofit center that provides support and services that meet the interests and needs of the individual, family, and the community by using social group work, cultural enrichment, consulting, recreation, daycare and public relations. Hallie Q. Brown also manages and coordinates services of the Martin Luther King Multi Service Center, at its site.

History

The Hallie Q. Brown Community Center, Inc., was originally organized in 1923 by the St. Paul Urban League.  The name was changed to Hallie Q. Brown Community House in 1929 and is now known as Hallie Q. Brown Community Center, Inc.  Hallie Q. Brown Center’s history is rooted in the traditions and history of African American heritage and in Settlement House tradition and practice.

Mission

The mission of Hallie Q. Brown Community Center is to improve the quality of life in our community by providing critical human services, fostering and promoting personal growth, and developing community leadership.
