The MACC Youth Evaluation Team has made progress in their 6 C's survey!  The survey was administered to youth across MACC agencies this September.  Further analysis is being made to assist in the goal creating a common measurement that will speak to the work of youth programs across programmatic differences and future changes. The 6 C's of Youth Development that are being measured are competence, confidence, connection, character, caring, and contribution.

The survey was created by the team of Karen Goodenough (Plymouth Christian Youth Center), Andrea Jones (Merrick), Anna Martin (Neighborhood House), Julie Murphy (West 7th Community Center), Kate Tobin (The Link), Mike Hoyt (Pillsbury United Communities), Nicole Smith (Emerge), & Jazmin Danielson (East Side Neighborhood Services), Deb Tomasino (Phyllis Wheatley Community Center, Ellen Wolter (Hennepin County), and Bina Nikrin (Hennepin County).

If you would like more information about the Youth Evaluation Team or the 6 C's Survey, please contact Yvonne Olsen at olseny@maccalliance.org.

Leading Through Change: Coaching Opportunities for Managers

MACC is proud to present "Leading Through Change: Coaching Opportunities for Managers."  This six-session series is for mid-level managers who are providing leadership within MACC member organizations.  Conversations will focus on how to grow as positive, effective leaders as our sector continues to face challenges, change and complexity.  Participants will become more aware of their own leadership style while learning steps toward successful change management.

These highly interactive sessions will be facilitated by Cheryl Jensen, President of Strategic Consulting and Coaching.  She brings 20 years of experience in non-profit management and leadership to her coaching clients and client-companies.  Cheryl specializes in leadership coaching by helping individuals and organizations identify and effectively utilize their talents and strengths while developing ways to rise to the next level of success.

This coaching series will be held on the first Wednesday of each month from October 2011 - April 2012 from 10:00am - Noon and the Lake Street Family Partnership.

Project Management Training

MACC recently held a three part project management training in conjunction with MACC CommonWealth. The sessions were

led and facilitated by Shelly Franz of Project Leadership Services. There was tremendous interest in these training sessions with over 25 MACC staff members attending.

"I was able to bring back to my organization a better understand of how scope affects a project, especially that of scope creep." - Steve Gustafson, Phyllis Wheatley Community Center

"The information directly impacted the work I do and I was able to implement the project management plan worksheet with a few improvements for my organization right away." - Kara Schommer, Neighborhood House

MACC Affinity Groups

In our efforts to bring revive some of MACC's prior programming, we are bringing back the Affinity Groups!

Two newly refreshed groups include the Volunteerism Affinity Group and the Food Shelf Affinity Group. Both groups include members from their organizations who work in these respective focus areas.  By bringing these talented individuals together, they are then able to network with each other, ask questions, and share best practices.

Some potential future focus areas for affinity groups are: senior care, communications and social media, and health disparities.

If you are interested in joining one of these Affinity Groups, e-mail Yvonne Olsen (olseny@maccalliance.org) or Liz Backstrom (BackstromL@puc-mn.org) for more details.

More updates on these groups will be made soon - check back often!
